Project Fully Commissioned!

Longcliffe Quarry Sand Washing Plant Now In Use

Last summer we were working on the civil design of a new washing plant for Longcliffe Quarries Ltd., in Derbyshire. The project is now commissioned and in use.

This is the first time we have worked with the civil contractor, RMB Contractors Ltd. of Derbyshire. Their site team was very impressive and produced concrete work of a very high standard, even though the last couple of months of 2019 were unusually wet.

The mechanical design and installation were by CDE Global Ltd. Working with this company was another first for us, but hopefully will not be the last. The electrical design and installation were by IPCE Ltd., who we have collaborated with on many projects over the years.

The construction site was in the middle of a very busy working quarry. The project manager, Martin Wylie, of MWES Ltd., has done a sterling job of keeping construction activities moving forwards without affecting the Client’s main operations. H&S issues have been brilliantly controlled and the site has been completely accident and ‘near-miss’ free. After 12100 man-hours of site work, first with atrocious weather conditions, followed by the complications of working through the Covid-19 outbreak, the project was still completed effectively on time and within budget. We have worked on numerous schemes with Martin over the years and he never fails to impress.

Lastly, our Client, Longcliffe Quarries Ltd., has been a pleasure to work for. They had a very clear idea of what they wanted and, after the usual design development, the scheme was fixed, drawn up and built without further changes and with their full support throughout the construction phase. We look forward to working with them again.
