The established working procedures of the practice comply in every respect to Regulations 11 and 18, and in particular with respect to the formalised hierarchy of risk control set out in those sections of the document. The practice now uses, for most traditional UK commissions, the hazard identification and risk assessment approach set out in "Management of Construction Safety" by Croner Publications Ltd. This document is recognised as reflecting the current industry standard for good practice in this field.

The practice now offers the service of Project Safety Coordinator  to its clients. Paul Hutchinson is the partner responsible for this activity. Having had significant roles in the management of Health & Safety immediately prior to joining the practice he was readily able to demonstrate competence in this area of consultancy and was accepted as a corporate member of the Association for Project Safety.

The practice subscribes to the HSE Newsletter service and, together with receiving regular APS publications, is able to stay up to date with HSE legislation and other pertinent matters affecting the industry. The APS carry out an annual review of members' continuing competence and will only renew membership if this is found to be satisfactory. This acts as a useful third party evaluation of our commitment to professional maintenance and development of skills in this area.

Paul Hutchinson is active in attending APS meetings and seminars. Changes in legislation and other factors, which may affect our approach to new commissions, are disseminated and brought to the attention of other members of staff for implementation.
